Forum Rationale

Entrepreneurship is all about innovation and creativity, which are major characteristics of young people. It is also a way to generate and promote economic growth. Thus entrepreneurship can be considered both a way of thought and of behaviour, in that it not only requires imagination and passion, but also specific traditional functions such as marketing and finance.

The theme of the inaugural Forum is "Press Here to Start : Beyond the Talk". It serves as a platform for young entrepreneurs, both established, as well as the up-and-coming, to sit down and openly discuss the challenges and opportunities that face those seeking this particular pathway.

Purposes

  • Facilitating participants to derive a clear deliverable action plan or strategic road map
  • Equipping young potential entrepreneurs with the necessary skills for starting their business
  • Empowering young Chinese to actualize their possibilities, hence reinforcing a culture of entrepreneurship
  • Building a unique supportive network for young Chinese entrepreneurs around the world
  • Sharing of business ideas among worldwide young Chinese

  • Entrepreneur / with a business idea in mind
  • 45 years old or below
  • in any regions / countries

The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) was founded in 1960 and is now the city?™s largest youth service organisation. For the last 54 years, it has been committed to serving the youth of Hong Kong through the provision of a variety of services, activities and programmes, which have an annual attendance of over five million. We encourage youth to reach their fullest potential and with community support, we now have over 60 service units. We also have 12 core services, which include the Youth S.P.O.Ts, M21 Multimedia Services, Employment Services, Youth at Risk Services, Counselling Services, Parenting Services, Leadership Training, Volunteer Services, Education Services, Creativity Education and Youth Exchange, Leisure, Cultural and Sports Services, and Research and Publications. We encourage young people to grow into responsible and dutiful citizens and we now have over 170,000 registered volunteers and 400,000 registered members. We believe that our motto HKFYG ??Here for You reaffirms our commitment and dedication to the young people of Hong Kong.

The Dragon Foundation was inaugurated in February 2000 with wide community support as a joint initiative of the Home Affairs Bureau and Home Affairs Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG). It is incorporated under the Companies Ordinance in Hong Kong and the Secretariat is administered by HKFYG. It is a non-profit, charitable organization with a long-term commitment to nurturing young people of Chinese ethnicity worldwide as tomorrow's leaders.

The Foundation devotes to create opportunities for young Chinese leaders around the world to meet, explore topical global issues and exchange ideas, thereby building a network. The mission is facilitated by a series of events. The "Global Youth Forum" invites 400 worldwide participants to study issues of regional and global importance. The "Dragon 100" annually invites 100 young Chinese leaders from around the world to gather to exchange ideas on chosen theme and build network. The "Global Citizens Programme" sends Hong Kong university students abroad to meet global leaders to cultivate international perspectives and develop qualities of a committed citizen in the world. A "Lecture Series for Youth Leaders," invites prominent figures of international repute to share their success and expertise with local young people.

Since 2008, "DragoNation", an alumni network of the programme participants has been established to strengthen the connection among young Chinese leaders worldwide and to join effort to actualise their vision and contribution to society.
